The gifted education and PACT program enhances and supports the educational experience of high ability students to prepare them to become world class learners and responsible citizens.
Career and technical education provides quality programming aligned with workforce needs, developed in partnership with local companies. It engages students in the application of other academic content to help prepare them for the future.
Iowa BIG celebrates the unique partnership between school districts and area businesses, and is an opportunity for high school students to expand their learning outside the traditional classroom for part of the school day.
We are committed to implementing sustainable practices to protect our environment and reduce our carbon footprint through facility and grounds improvements, development planning, technology updates, and school green teams.
The district’s new 14-year Comprehensive Facilities Master Plan is a fiscally responsible plan that reimagines our school facilities to help address current realities and future demands.
Since we have seen our first snowfall of the season, we wanted to remind our families to send their students with the items they need to stay warm. Elementary and preschool students need snow pants, snow boots, and mittens/gloves to play in areas with snow during recess. Students are asked to change out of their boots into a dry pair of shoes when inside the building. Also, students go outside for recess unless the air temperature or windchill is less than 10 degrees. … See MoreSee Less

Metro High School held its annual Metro Turkey Day yesterday. Students and staff prepared all of the food and drinks, made the decorations, and helped to get everything set up. Then, all of the students and staff sat down and enjoyed a delicious meal together. Even more special, this year, Metro is celebrating 50 years. A large group of retired and former Metro staff stopped by to partake in this long-standing tradition. You can check out more photos here: flic.kr/s/aHBqjB4aYj… See MoreSee Less
Yesterday, Kennedy High School’s Student Government assembled over 65 "Thanksgiving baskets" for Kennedy families in need. The baskets included everything needed for a full Thanksgiving meal, including potatoes, turkey, gravy, rolls, and pie. All of the food was donated by Kennedy families and the Class of 2027. What a great way to kick off the giving season! … See MoreSee Less
Progress continues to be made at the new Trailside Elementary construction site. The construction crews are currently working to complete the roof of the building. Trailside Elementary is the third new elementary school to be built as part of the district’s Elementary Facilities Master Plan. Both Arthur and Garfield Elementary students will attend Trailside when it opens in the fall of 2024. … See MoreSee Less
Why Trailside? What’s wrong with Arthur or Garfield? We don’t like that you’re erasing history. CR was very unique having all but 5 schools named after Presidents. Why the change?
This is a friendly reminder that there is no school next Wednesday (Nov 22) through Friday (Nov 24) for Thanksgiving Break. There will also be no district newsletter sent out next Friday. We hope everyone has a happy and safe Thanksgiving break, and we look forward to welcoming students back when classes resume on Monday, November 27th. … See MoreSee Less

Thank you teachers and staff for all your hard work and dedication to the students of Cedar Rapids.
Thank you Tricia Tumilty Baker for all that you do for your students, all students and staff at Maple Grove Elementary 👏👏👏
They would feel better if they were supported along with the teachers and protected from disrespectful students that don't get any form of consequences. The education profession has gone down a slippery slope and the leader of this circus is a fired superintendent from Nebraska. Doesn't say much.

Yes I agree. Many things to fix. Some of which they just need to pay attention to.
Yes vote already.
Maybe ask them how they will maintain the new schools when every penny of SAVE and PPEL is going to build elementary schools. A 3rd bond possibly?
If anyone goes, ask them how you can build a 320,000 sq ft building on the Harding site. I keep reading they would consider it.
Vote No and No..
I will be voting no
Already voted, NO ❌
I want to hear more about keeping our kids safe, keeping our teachers from getting abused by the students, bringing respect and discipline back to the classroom and a little less about turf fields. Keep neighborhood schools open and learn how to budget your spending. What is the district doing to save the taxpayers money? In the past week I have heard from several people who have or who are planning on transferring their students to Alburnett school district. They said it is worth the drive to prevent their child from being being bullied since the district won't do anything about it. It's sad when we start losing kids to other districts because ours can't get their priorities straight. Student and staff safety should be number one on your list or you will end up losing both. Then what good will these new buildings be without good people to run them? Get your ducks in a row.
The proposed $220 Million bond would raise the district’s property tax levy by $2.70 per $1,000 of taxable value, if approved. Even with this increase, the CRCSD property tax levy rate would remain comparable to or less than many neighboring school districts. The graphic below shows the monthly increase residents could expect for various taxable values. Please know that your home’s taxable value is a percentage of its total assessed value. … See MoreSee Less
This is a large increase for homeowners that felt the sting of 2022 property tax increases. Renters will feel this too. Bad timing. The plan itself needs a lot of work. So they’re asking for hundreds of millions to build a huge middle school but they dont know where they’ll put it. Probably need more bussing taking kids out of their neighborhoods. Two schools have fallen into disrepair on their watch, closing sections of the schools and they don’t know when that happened. I’m sorry but handing money over to this plan makes no sense to me. More accurately the people behind this plan.
No thank u
No thanks I already pay plenty in taxes
Your sample of the home values on your picture cracks me up. That is where you are out of touch with the reality of what people are paying already in taxes. Because that first picture you have $300,000 above it. The city assesses it more like $500,000. The middle picture you have $100,000 . In reality it would be valued at $200,000. You have to know already that everyone is already paying out of their asses for taxes already because they assessed our homes far more valuable than what they are.
Please use some of the money from the new assessments. Vote no
Once the CRSchools start teaching what parents believe they should be teaching their children, I'll vote for increased funding. Until then, not another dime will I vote for.
I certainly won’t be voting for it
This BOND IS A PEICE OF JUNK! The people in CR need to open their eyes before they vote and do their research. They put $2 million dollars into the Taft roof (the dome) this summer! There shouldn't be any structural issues that went unnoticed!
Nope sorry u all don't listen to parents. Example don't teardown Harrison when its a historical site. U guys should no better.
